I have been very remiss at website updates. Will add past due updates as I can but for now — Welcome to the world newest litter Harvey and Bird puppies!
The proud parents:
All puppies have homes to go to, but I am planning at least one more, possibly two additional litters in the very near future… pics and info soon.
I have had a massive number of puppy inquiries lately, most likely because there aren’t any current litters.
I am aware of two litters bred and another planned. If you wish, check with me in mid October and if the mom’s pregnancies are confirmed, and if the breeders do not have placements for all pups already – I will be happy to put people in touch.
My next planned litter will be Riley x Poppy in very early 2015. If all goes well, I hope to have puppies in February or March. If you would like to be seriously considered for a puppy, please read my placement information and fill out the application.
I am always happy to help introduce people to the breed, try to find Canaan’s which might live closer for you to meet, and to invite people to meet my dogs either at shows, events or at my home, even if I do not currently have puppies looking for homes.
But since everyone loves a puppy picture – here’s one from the last litter now 7 months old and called L-R — Rocket, Ian, Bodhi and Korra.
October update: Calibur is now happily living in a lovely home in NH. He enjoys walks, visits to the Canadian border for vacations and all his new housemates – people and dogs alike. Calibur will remain available for select breeding inquires, and hopes to produce another litter for Relic Canaans in the future.
Relic’s Excalibur is available to a select home. I currently own five male dogs, which is too many to manage in one house. The separation required means that I do not get to spend as much time with each group as I would like. Calibur is a very sweet and loving boy who would do well as either an only dog, or with a female housemate.
Calibur will be four years old this fall, is a CHIC Canaan and has sired a litter – I would like to see him kept intact to produce another in the future. He is a beautiful example of the breed, but does not want to be a show dog. He would far prefer to hang out on the couch, sleep on the bed, act silly, go for car rides and get his belly rubbed. Calibur has not been raised with young children or cats and so I think he would prefer a quieter adult household.

Finally, the puppy drought has ended with a flood.

After much searching, I have finally found a new Canaan to hopefully add diversity to my breeding program in the years to come…. MEET HARVEST
And here’s Harvey at 3 weeks – the picture that stole my heart:
Harvest is co-owned with his breeder Alla Geretz of HaTikva Canaan Dogs
“Harvey” is exactly what I hoped for – one of the most outgoing little Canaan Pups I’ve ever seen. In the first week he has been here, he has met many new people of all shapes and sizes, gone into several big box stores, and has even made his first appearance at local dog shows. He handled it all with plenty of kisses and a wagging tail. We have high hopes for this young man. His cute face attracts admirers like a magnet. Everywhere I go – someone wants to say Hiya Harv!
Rosie left the Relic Pack on Saturday October 12th for a rather long journey back to her other mother Annette. It was a beautiful day for a drive from CT to NJ to deliver Rosie to professional handler Kitty Burke who will be heading south the CDCA National Specialty in Atlanta GA this week. Kitty will deliver Rose to Annette, who will return home to Raleigh NC with Rosie after the specialty is over. We are hoping this early delivery will give Rose and her intended Noah some quality time to get to know each other before an expected December breeding date.
While at the shows I met up with a group of folks interested in meeting more Canaan Dogs. Rose had already been handed off, but her mother Camber and half brother Excalibur did a fine job at providing their own personal Meet the Breeds. I enjoyed the lively dog discussion, which veered into many areas of the dog world.
We all had a very special treat on the way home, stopping at Axle’s home for a visit. Axle is one lucky puppy! Well, he is about to have his 3rd birthday, but until the next litter comes along….his litter remains “the puppies”. Axle’s beautifully fenced in yard is enormous! I hope to have some pics soon to share. Axle, Camber and Calibur raced and played till they dropped! I received wonderfully sloppy nose kisses from Axle’s two legged brother Logan who had a ball dumping the dogs water bowl all over himself not once, but twice! And in beautiful Canaan dog fashion, the matriarch Camber, who loves children, took it upon herself to protect little Logan from all, included his beloved Axle. What a beautiful fall afternoon spent with Scott and Joanne. Thanks!
